Ramón Boix
Acrobats

The next work I did to study the bone and muscular structure of the human body. There is an exceptional book for this committed “Human Anatomy for Artists” by Eliot Goldfinger.

I chose two acrobats in position of maximum muscular tension to better see the outline of the muscles. Surely under the eye of a traumatologist there will be some mistakes.

The sculpture is made of a single piece of basswood. The arms of the man had to reinforce them by introducing along them a rod of steel, at the same time they were worth to anchor the carving to the ball. In the development of this sculpture you can appreciate that I have applied all the techniques learned from Ian Norbury, great carver and excellent educator.
